The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Power Electronics with strong interest in high-efficiency Bi-directional Wireless Power Transfer and high-frequency magnetic design at the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE), Sønderborg. The position will be at the rank of Associate Professor and preferably have a starting date of January 1, 2027. The appointment is permanent.
Sønderborg is an international campus with students from more than 60 nationalities. The Faculty of Engineering is represented by the Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IME). CIE is embedded in a powerhouse in electronics, which includes researchers and developers at universities and industries on both sides of the Danish-German border. Central to achieving this objective is access to state-of-the-art facilities and close collaborations with industries.
Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative and visionary Associate Professor with expertise in power electronics and wireless power transfer systems. The candidate is expected to contribute to research, teaching, and industrial collaboration.
Key Research Areas:
High-frequency power electronics and WBG switching (SiC, GaN)
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems for EVs
Magnetic component design and integration
Advanced converter topologies (DC/DC, resonant, AFE)
EMI/EMC and switching behavior analysis
Digital twin modeling and system-level design
Responsibilities:
Conduct high-impact research and publish in leading journals
Secure external research funding (EU, national, industrial)
Develop and lead research projects and collaborations
Teach BSc and MSc courses in power electronics
Supervise MSc and PhD students
Contribute to innovation and industry engagement
Qualifications:
PhD in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics
Strong publication record in IEEE journals
Proven track record of research funding acquisition
Experience with industrial collaboration
Teaching experience and supervision record
Expertise in simulation and experimental validation

Employment terms
Appointment as an associate professor is permanent, and the preferred start date is from January 1, 2026.
Employment as an associate professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level as well as scientific and teaching qualifications commensurate with the position as an associate professor. Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state including the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for associate professor as described therein.
Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the content of the position, responsibilities, and qualification requirements.
