Housekeeping Manager – Leadership First, Operations Second

About the Position

We are building a new housekeeping team for a new customer, Motel One in Copenhagen - and we are looking for a strong people leader to lead it.

This role is not about having the longest CV in housekeeping. It is about leadership, structure, accountability, and care. If you are the kind of leader who enjoys building teams, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where people both feel supported and are held accountable, this role may be for you.

The Role

As Housekeeping Manager, you will be fully responsible for a team of approximately 25 housekeepers.

Your most important task is people leadership.

You will:

  • Onboard and introduce all new employees to our structured training program and clear procedures

  • Personally ensure that every team member is properly trained before working independently

  • Set clear standards for quality, behavior, and cooperation - and follow up consistently

  • Create a culture where employees feel genuinely cared for and understand that expectations are non-negotiable

We believe the housekeeping industry can - and must - be better. This role is central to proving that sincere care and high accountability can coexist.

Leadership Philosophy – This Matters

We are looking for a manager who can handle both sides of leadership:

  • Someone who supports, listens, and cares for their team

  • Someone who addresses issues immediately, calls out undesirable behavior, and takes disciplinary action when needed

In practical terms, this is a parent-like leadership role: You go above and beyond for your team - and you act decisively when they don’t follow instructions or standards.

This is not optional. And it’s not something you shy away from.

You must have a proven track record of leading teams where accountability, structure, and respect go hand in hand.

Way of Working

You thrive when things are planned, structured, and proactive — and you actively work to reduce chaos and last-minute firefighting.

At the same time, you understand that hotel operations sometimes require quick reactions. Your goal is to reduce the need for reactions by looking ahead, planning thoroughly, and creating clarity for everyone involved.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Daily coordination of housekeeping operations

  • Planning staffing, schedules, and task distribution

  • Ensuring procedures are followed and quality standards are met

  • Collaborating with hotel stakeholders and internal colleagues

  • Acting as the clear point of reference for your team

About You

We are open to candidates without housekeeping experience.

What matters most is that you:

  • Have strong leadership experience, preferably with teams of 15+ people

  • Are extremely organized and structured

  • Are comfortable holding people accountable and having difficult conversations

  • Are calm, fair, and consistent- not reactive or emotional

  • Believe that clear rules and expectations create safety and trust

  • Are confident onboarding, training, and following up on people

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, even under pressure

  • Are comfortable using planning tools, schedules, and systems (Excel, workforce planning tools, etc.)

Experience from operations-heavy environments (hospitality, retail, logistics, facilities, production, etc.) is a plus - but not a requirement.

Fluency in English is required. Other languages are an advantage.
