Your team

You will be an integral part of a dynamic team of over 12 data and AI enthusiasts, located in Odense and Hanoi, focusing on building AI-powered image processing pipelines that serve the real estate industry at scale, processing thousands of property image orders every day through GPU-accelerated machine learning (ML) services running on AWS and Kubernetes.

Our production AI handles multiple machine learning tasks: classification, segmentation, object detection; generative & non-generative approaches. We operate with strict SLAs, real-time queue management, and autoscaling GPU infrastructure. This is applied ML engineering with real production constraints.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to turn ideas into well-engineered solutions — balancing product velocity with long-term maintainability.

About the role

We are looking for a junior data scientist / data engineer to join our R&D team in Odense. This role has two main areas of focus.

First, data. Our ML systems depend on well-structured, clean, reliable data – and you will own this. You will build and maintain the pipelines that collect, clean, and prepare data for training and evaluation. You will monitor data quality, manage datasets, and make sure the rest of the team can trust what they're working with.

Second, research and evaluation. Not everything we do is built in-house; for many problems the best solution is an open-source model, a managed service, or an external API. You will help scout, benchmark, and compare these options against our in-house approaches, building structured evaluations based on quality, cost, latency, and maintainability.

You might come from a data science, statistics, mathematics, or similar background. What matters is that you are strong with data, rigorous in how you evaluate things, and willing to grow your engineering skills over time. We will support you in that.

What you will do

Data:

• Build and maintain data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and preparing data for model training and evaluation
• Monitor data quality and help build tooling to catch data issues early
• Manage and version training datasets; prepare data for annotation and validation
• Explore, profile, and document datasets to support R&D decision-making

Research & Evaluation:

• Scout, evaluate, and benchmark open-source models, libraries, and external API providers (e.g., cloud AI services, specialist vendors) against in-house solutions; help build clear build-vs-buy recommendations based on quality, cost, latency, and maintenance burden
• Design and run structured comparisons: set up evaluation frameworks, define metrics, document findings, and present recommendations to the team
• Run experiments, train models, and analyse results to support R&D projects

General:

• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions with the team
• Contribute to our Friday tech talks, share learnings, demo works in progress and discuss ideas.
• To foster collaboration between Denmark and Vietnam, we encourage our R&D engineers to visit our Hanoi office.

Required skills & experience

• A degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, machine learning, physics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Solid fundamentals in Python
• Strong experience working with data: cleaning, transforming, exploring, and visualising datasets (Pandas, NumPy, or similar)
• Understanding of core ML concepts: training, evaluation, overfitting, common model types
• Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Analytical mindset: you enjoy digging into data, spotting problems, and forming evidence-based conclusions
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
• Willingness to grow your engineering skills (data pipelines, automation, tooling)

Other useful skills & experience

• Experience with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar)
• Experience with data versioning or experiment tracking tools (DVC, MLflow, Weights & Biases)
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)
• Familiarity with image processing or computer vision
• Experience designing experiments or benchmarks in a structured way
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS S3, SageMaker, or similar)
• Exposure to working with APIs (REST, gRPC) and evaluating third-party ML services
• Familiarity with Docker or containerisation concepts
