At DTU Sustain, you will work at the forefront of environmental engineering and photo-bio-electrochemical technology, developing innovative solutions for CO2 utilization and methane production. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical tools, reactor design, and reaction kinetics, skills that will prepare you for a future career in academia, research, or the biotechnology industry.
Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to advance the development of a sustainable photo-electrochemical process for methanation using biogenic CO2. You will work in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary research team in Water Technology and Processes section at DTU Sustain, combining environmental engineering, biotechnology, electrochemistry and process optimization to achieve more efficient CO2-to-CH4 conversion. The PhD position is funded by MSCA Doctoral Networks program.

We are looking for a candidate who has a strong experimental background in environmental biotechnology, electrochemistry, or chemical reaction engineering. Experience with analytical chemistry techniques for metabolite detecting and quantification is essential. A good command of both written and spoken English is required, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary research team.
You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
Approval and Enrolment

The assessment of the applicants will be made by Professor Yifeng Zhang and the project team based on qualifications, relevant experience, and motivation for the project.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
