We are seeking to continue the longer-term development of our dynamic team responsible for coordinating and managing large, interconnected international projects within Infectious Disease Preparedness and One Health.

About Infectious Disease Preparedness at Statens Serum Institut (SSI)
SSI is responsible for the Danish preparedness against infectious diseases, covering both diagnostic preparedness and epidemiological preparedness. SSI is a One Health institute: in addition to being a public health institute, SSI has veterinary preparedness functions in collaboration with University of Copenhagen. All activities are based on scientific evidence from research, surveillance and investigation of outbreaks, and many activities are conducted in national and international collaborations.

SSI is very active in EU-projects in the fields of infectious disease preparedness and integrated One Health surveillance. We have established a dynamic team that coordinates and manages a portfolio of large, interconnected EU-projects, secures an overview of SSI’s participation in the projects, and works towards sustainability of the activities. Key projects in the portfolio right now include EU-HIP, EU-WISH, OH4Surveillance, BE READY PLUS, DURABLE and LEAPS, and in 2026 we look forward to BE READY NOW and Global Pathogen Analysis Platform (GPAP).

Working with us
You will be involved in the coordination of a palette of international projects at different stages and in the preparation of proposals for continuation projects. Your individual areas of responsibility will be tailored to your expertise and interests, while we ensure that each key task can be carried out by at least two team members to support continuity and shared ownership. The projects also provide opportunities to take part in scientific activities.

Education, experience and personal qualifications
You have a relevant university degree and at least 1 to 3 years of experience in international projects. You communicate well and are fluent in written and spoken English. You are confident in taking independent responsibility as a project manager and in acting as a constructive sparring partner for project leadership and organisational leadership. You work in a structured way, can align activities with relevant strategies, and are motivated to contribute to stronger structures for infectious disease preparedness and One Health in international collaboration.

You have skills and experience in some of the following:

Project management and reporting

• Organising events, in particular high-level meetings or co-creation workshops
• Collaboration with European and global stakeholders such as DG HERA, ECDC, EFSA, EEA, EMA, HaDEA, REA, JRC, WHO, WOAH, FAO
• Professional interest in topics relevant for infectious disease preparedness and One Health, and key projects in our project portfolio
• You are structured, responsible, good in keeping deadlines, and enjoy working in international collaborations. It is beneficial if you are good in networking, and have skills in several languages; especially Danish skills are useful.

Terms of employment
The employment will be in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC-overenskomsten) or as department physician (afdelingslæge) in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Association of Junior Doctors (Yngre Læger).

The positions are either a 3-year position or fixed-termed depending on the specific project.
