Technical Project Management Assistant - DTU Chemical Engineering

If you are looking to contribute to the decarbonisation of maritime shipping, this is an ideal project and part-time position for you. At DTU Chemical Engineering, as part of SEAFAIRER (Horizon Europe Innovation Action), you will support the project management team in breaking new ground at the forefront of advanced biofuel technologies to decarbonise maritime shipping.

The job
The SEAFAIRER project, an Innovation Action funded by Horizon Europe, aims to demonstrate, at Technology Readiness Level (TRL 7), the production of improved intermediate biofuels - and an alternative pathway through integration in existing refinery infrastructure - to deliver climate-positive drop-in biofuels for maritime transport. You will have an important role in supporting the Project Manager and the Project Coordinator, as well as other internal and external project stakeholders, with project administration, reporting duties, and day-to-day execution of the project activities.

Your main tasks are to:

  • Build a value chain decision-making tool based on mixed-integer linear programming
  • Develop sensitivity and uncertainty assessment algorithms to assess various scenarios in a biofuel value chain
  • Support techno-economic assessment, life-cycle costing, GHG reduction calculation and life-cycle assessment of a biofuel value chain
  • Interact with value chain stakeholders in industrial manufacturing, agriculture, ground transportation, maritime shipping, environmental agencies and fuel bunkering industries
  • Develop data structures for the tool; design and test value chain node forecasting models

We expect you to have:

  • a M.Sc. (or Bachelor’s with 3+ years experience) in a STEM field or equivalent related to economics, logistics or mathematics;
  • professional experience with data analytics and superstructure databases;
  • knowledge of techno-economic assessment and life-cycle costing methodologies;
  • strong communication and personal interaction skills;
  • excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; additional languages are highly appreciated

We are looking for a team player who can also work independently, who is motivated to help make, and be part of, a driven project team and who has a positive, supportive and creative outlook.

What we offer in return
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with the focus on climate, innovation and renewable energy technologies for the benefit of the surrounding community. We place emphasis on a high level of professionalism among our staff, so skills development is an integral part of our organization. We offer a great flexibility in the position. In the area of technical and natural sciences, DTU is one of the leading research and education institutions in Europe.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

Starting date will be 1 April 2026 or upon mutual agreement.
