We are looking for a highly motivated PostDoc in mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) and metabolomics to start as soon as possible. The position is for a period of 18 months.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with a strong scientific background in MALDI imaging and spatial mass spectrometry. The candidate will work in the Molecular Metabolism and Metabolomics group, which is affiliated with both the Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry and the Section for Translational Biology, and thus will be embedded in an excellent scientific interdisciplinary environment. The focus will be to use mass spectrometry imaging and tracer technologies to uncover the spatial distribution and dynamics of lipids and metabolites in tissues biopsies from healthy and obese individuals.
The candidate will be involved in:
Recruitment of healthy and obese individiuals for tissue biopsies
Sampling of human biopsies and animal tissues for MS imaging
Development and application of new tissue assays, e.g. quantitative MSI
Operating and method development for MALDI Imaging of tissue biopsies on a Bruker timsTOF flex
Measurement and metabolomics and lipidomics analyses of samples by untargeted LC-MS
Annotation of datasets and downstream integrative data analysis (e.g. pathway mapping of images)
Support with teaching and writing publications
We seek a candidate with excellent practical skills in MALDI imaging and downstream data analysis, strong practical skills in analytical chemistry, specifically LC and mass spectrometry. The candidate must have a strong publication record in the field of mass spectrometry preferably in MALDI imaging, and be able to perform structured and organized work and have a strong ability to work in a team, supervise and handle multiple projects in parallel.
