DIGNITY is looking for a Programme Advisor for partnerships with Private Foundations

About DIGNITY

DIGNITY is an international human rights and development organization. We prevent torture and violence, rehabilitate traumatized victims, and support local partner organisations in documenting serious human rights violations so that perpetrators are held accountable. Founded in 1982, DIGNITY is one of the world’s first anti-torture NGOs and specialized treatment centres for torture survivors.

The position is initially for 2 years with a possibility for extension.

The Role

Over the past years, DIGNITY has significantly grown the programme portfolio internationally as well as our rehabilitation support to refugees in Denmark.

To ensure that our funding base can support continued growth across all our thematic areas and reinforce our ability to fight torture and help survivors in Denmark and internationally, DIGNITY is seeking a strategic and experienced Advisor for partnerships with private foundations, to develop and manage relationships with Danish and international foundations.

As Foundation Partnership Advisor, you will play a leading role in advancing DIGNITY’s fundraising efforts with private foundations. You will identify, initiate, and build partnerships with private foundations that support our work both locally in Denmark and globally, thereby making an important contribution for justice and recovery for torture survivors. This includes exploring potential support to new ways of employing new technologies. The position is new and gives you the possibility to shape the direction we take, the priorities we make, and the methods we use.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify Danish and International private foundations of relevance to DIGNITY’s mission, values, and programmes
  • Position DIGNITY strategically with private foundations
  • Initiate and lead relationship building with private foundations
  • Collaborate with DIGNITY staff and partner organisations to develop high-quality investment cases and partnership proposals to private foundations
  • Support DIGNITY staff in contributing to build relations to private foundations and coordinate engagements

About You

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Relevant academic background at master’s level.
  • Has proven experience and a positive track record in foundation fundraising, ideally by working with or within private foundations
  • Maintains a strong overview of the Danish and international philanthropic landscape and has a good network in the sector
  • Can translate complex technical work into clear, persuasive investments cases and concept notes of mutual added value
  • Is collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working across cultures and disciplines
  • Is willing to travel internationally up to 25-30 days per year
  • Is an excellent written communicator in English and proficient in Danish
  • Has strong interest and commitment to promote human rights and locally led development
  • Knowledge of relevant technology and AI actors and potential funding streams will be an advantage

We offer

  • A meaningful role in an internationally recognised human rights organisation
  • The opportunity to contribute to impactful and globally relevant work
  • The opportunity to execute fundraising strategies for the Danish foundation market to support DIGNITY's national programmes
  • A professional, dedicated and value-driven working environment
  • Flexible working arrangements and a healthy work-life balance

Terms of employment

The position is placed in DIGNITY's International Programmes with reference to the department director.

Your place of employment is Copenhagen at our HQ at Bryggervangen 55, 2100 Copenhagen Ø.

We expect you to have a civil registry address in Denmark during the full employment.

Expected entry is 1 September 2026.

Your working hours are 37 hours per week, with the expectation that additional work may take place. It will be possible to take time off after having additional working hours within our flexible work schedule.

You are expected to have up to 25-30 days of travel activity per year.
