We are looking for a part time Operation Specialist as part of our Engineering team in the Fjernbane project – the project responsible for the introduction of a new signalling system based on ERTMS technology in Denmark. The Danish Signalling Programme, as the largest of its kind in Europe, is fully engaged replacing the old signalling system on the Danish railway with new digital-based signalling technology. The system is aligned with the European standard, European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS). Replacing the system on the entire railway makes Denmark the first country to implement ERTMS on a national scale.
Your place of employment will be at our headquarters centrally in Copenhagen, where you will be a part of an international work environment with a close collaboration with our international suppliers.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Preparation of operational requirements
- Stakeholder participation in the BDK Siding Group
- Review of basic operational signalling documents (signalling layouts, route tables and tracks for detector lockings etc.) (customer reviewer)
- Planning, preparation of, and participation in Signal sighting commissions
- Participating in meetings and workshops on technical issues
- Miscellaneous reviews and workshops
- Operational activities in connection with sight visibility etc.
Your profile You have a relevant education within IT, and solid experience within the railway industry, and ideally, you also have experience with signalling, including ERTMS design and functionality. Furthermore, you have solid experience working with projects and suppliers.
For each roll-out there are specific technical challenges that require solid signalling knowledge, proactiveness, and teamwork to propose well-analyzed technical solutions. Knowledge of the existing Banedanmark signalling infrastructure will be beneficial in this context.
Therefore, we are looking for a team player with analytical skills, a structured and detailed approach, as well as good communication skills. At the same time, you can work independently and towards agreed tasks and deadlines.
The role includes communicating with colleagues of many different nationalities. Our working language is English, both written and spoken, and documentation is mainly in English and Danish.

Salary and employment For candidates with an academic background, employment will be based on the collective agreement applicable to academics employed by the Danish state, concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the relevant academic organisations.
You will be placed on the salary scale based on your academic seniority and experience, either as Academic Officer (fuldmægtig) at the basic salary level or as a Senior Officer (specialkonsulent), in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the salary framework issued by the Danish Agency for Public Finance and Management.
Salary and terms of employment will be determined in accordance with the
applicable collective agreement and the
salary framework for state employees.
Depending on your qualifications and experience, additional allowances may be negotiated. The remuneration package includes an employer-funded pension contribution of 18.07%.
For candidates covered by the HK collective agreement Employment will be based on the collective agreement applicable to office staff, laboratory technicians, and IT employees in the Danish state sector, including the General Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees' Organisations – The State Sector (OAO-S).
The position is classified within Salary Group 3, rate 3, Capital, and salary and terms of employment will be determined in accordance with the
applicable collective agreement and
the salary framework for state employees.
Depending on your qualifications and experience, additional allowances may be negotiated.
The remuneration package includes an employer-funded pension contribution of 16%.
Your work time will be 20 hours/week with start September 1st 2026.
