English Teacher: Middle School

Part-time position (44%) – 15 lessons per week – Start as soon as possible

Sønderborg International School is looking for an English Teacher to join our teaching staff as soon as possible.

We are a small, independent international school in Sønderborg with students from Year 1 to Year 10. Our school community includes students, families and staff from many different countries and cultural backgrounds, and English is the main language of communication at the school.

We are looking for a teacher to teach English in Middle School, following the English National Curriculum and contributing to the preparation of students for Cambridge IGCSE.

The position corresponds to 44% of a full-time position and currently includes 15 lessons per week.

## The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating high-quality English lessons for Middle School students.

Responsibilities include:

* Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured and challenging English lessons.

* Teaching in accordance with the English National Curriculum.

* Preparing students for progression towards Cambridge IGCSE English.

* Assessing student progress and providing clear, constructive feedback.

* Differentiating teaching to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.

* Maintaining high expectations for student learning, behaviour and participation.

* Creating and maintaining a calm, structured and positive learning environment.

* Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the pedagogical development of the school.

* Participating, proportionally to the position, in staff meetings, INSET days, supervision duties and other activities associated with being a member of the teaching staff.

## We Are Looking For Someone Who

* Is preferably a native English speaker or fully bilingual in English and another language.

* Has strong classroom management skills and can establish clear expectations and positive relationships with students.

* Is confident teaching English at Middle School level.

* Can plan, teach and assess independently and systematically.

* Is comfortable working in an international and multicultural school environment.

* Can communicate professionally and respectfully with students, families and colleagues from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

* Is collaborative, reliable and committed to contributing positively to the wider life of the school.

* Has high expectations of students and is committed to helping them achieve their full academic potential.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is preferred.

Previous experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE is an advantage but is not essential. We also welcome applications from teachers with relevant experience who are keen to develop their knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum.

Exceptional candidates who do not meet all of the preferred qualifications or experience requirements may still be considered.

## We Offer

* A part-time teaching position (44% of a full-time post).

* A timetable of 15 lessons per week.

* The opportunity to teach the English National Curriculum and prepare students for Cambridge IGCSE.

* A diverse and welcoming international school community.

* A collaborative working environment where teachers are valued and supported.

* The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a small school where every member of staff has a genuine impact on students and school development.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for teachers in Danish independent schools (Friskolernes Overenskomst). Salary placement will be determined according to documented relevant experience.

## Application

Please send your CV and cover letter to [om@sischool.dk](mailto:om@sischool.dk). References are also welcome, if available.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and interviews will be held continuously. The recruitment process will remain open until a suitable candidate has been appointed.

The position is available as soon as possible.
