The Q-PLANET project is an EU funded project aimed to establish a European pilot line for quantum applications and creation of the state-of-the-art quantum devices. These quantum devices would specifically be implemented and integrated in neutral atoms quantum applications. The project is a consortium with around 30 partners from both academia and industry. DTU Nanolab is one major partner, mainly focused on Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) fabrication and packaging.
We are seeking up to 4 engineers to join our Q-PLANET team at DTU Nanolab. Three will mainly be working on packaging and one on device fabrication. Within this project you will get to collaborate with our team to help develop and establish a Process and Assembly Design Kit (PDK/ ADK).
The jobThe device fabrication engineer will mainly be working on the development and standardization of optical elements fabrication, where most of the work will be conducted in DTU Nanolab’s clean room facilities. The packaging engineers will work on the establishment of the Assembly Design Kit (ADK) of optical and electrical elements. Most of the work will be focusing on optical fibre integration into PIC, chip bonding, and optical characterization.
Our expectations of youWe expect you to have a master or a PhD in engineering, physics or similar technical relevant background.
It is essential to have high experience in the following:
For the clean room engineer
- Basic fabrication skills including Dry etching (experience with SiN and TFLN will be preferable), thin film deposition (thermal, E-beam, PECVD, ALD, etc), and lithography (E-Beam, UV, and DUV)
- Characterization including: Ellipsometry, SEM, AFM, PL, etc.
For the Packaging engineer:
- Advanced dicing techniques, including edge polishing
- Chip bonding (wire and flip chip)
- Fiber array packaging
- Optical and electrical characterization besides AFM and SEM
We also expect that you
- Have high communication and coordination skills
- Can work independently on given tasks
- Will systematically report and document process development results
- Enjoy working on projects with high level of collaboration
- Are fluent in English
