Join the Center for Vaccine Research (CVR) and be part of a multidisciplinary team developing vaccines against major infectious diseases, with the potential to improve global health.About the position To strengthen CVR’s human immunology research and translational vaccine pipeline, we invite applications for a Professor MSO in Human Immunology.
As project leader and Professor MSO in Human Immunology, you will lead and further develop a research program focused on human immunity in infection and vaccination, with particular emphasis on understanding immune correlates of protection and mechanisms of long-term immune memory.
The position is embedded within CVR and reports to the Director of the Center for Vaccine Research.
You will:
- Establish and lead a forefront research program in human immunology with a strong translational profile
- Define strategic research priorities within human cellular and humoral immunity in infectious diseases and vaccine development
- Strengthen CVR’s expertise in immune profiling, T cell epitope mapping, and systems immunology
- Integrate advanced immunomonitoring platforms (e.g., multiparameter flow cytometry, Fluorospot, RNA sequencing, TCR repertoire analysis) into vaccine development pipelines
- Build and expand national and international collaborations with academic, clinical, and industry partners
- Secure competitive external funding from national and international sources
- Supervise PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff
- Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and scientific evaluation activities nationally and internationally
A key component of the role is to bridge basic human immunology and translational vaccine research, ensuring that mechanistic insights into T cell immunity directly inform vaccine antigen selection, immune monitoring strategies, and clinical trial design.
Required qualifications About the Center for Vaccine Research We are seeking a candidate with:
- A PhD in immunology, microbiology, or a related biomedical discipline with 10 years of experience
- A strong international research profile within human immunology, particularly T cell biology

- A significant publication record in high-impact journals
- A documented track record of securing competitive research funding
- Experience leading multidisciplinary and international research collaborations
- A collaborative, interdisciplinary, and translational mindset
The ideal candidate has demonstrated expertise in:
- Human immune signatures in tuberculosis and other lung pathogens
- Identification and characterization of antigen-specific immune responses
- Translational immunology bridging infection, inflammation, and vaccine research
