Research Assistants for Hybrid Wood Species Architectures

The Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation is seeking two research assistants for the ReForm project focused on Wood Hybrid Species Architecture.

The two vacant positions are affiliated with the Institute of Architecture and Space, CEMAS – Center for Material Studies and employment will happen on 1 September or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position

We offer a creative, engaged, developmental, and visionary educational and research environment.

The positions as Research Assistant will consist of research. Teaching and other tasks may occur to a limited extent.

Your duties will include:

  • Material Studies, focused on wood species hybrid investigations, including biogenic binders.
  • Computational Studies, focused on computer vision, digital modelling and thermal simulations.
  • Prototyping Studies, focused development and testing of hybrid species building elements and measurement setups for thermal performance and description of expessive-aesthetic characteristics.


Qualifications

You hold a master’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology or Architectural Engineering.

We also expect that you:

  • Have experience with material studies and protype investigations, preferably related to wood species.
  • Have computational knowledge and competencies, preferably advanced parametric modelling and simulation methods.


Salary and terms of employment

The terms of pay and employment will be in accordance with the agreement in force between the Danish Ministry of Finance and a number of organisations under the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) for academic staff in public service. A qualification allowance will be negotiable, depending on your skills and experience.

The position will also be filled in accordance with the applicable job structure for artistic and Academic staff at the Royal Danish Academy og Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design, Conservation; Aarhus School of Architecture and Kolding School of Design – Ministerial Order No. 1190 of 21 August 2023.

Both positions are part time and will expire without further warning on 29 February 2028.

Position 1 is with an average of 22.2 hours per week.

Position 2 is with an average of 29.6 hours per week.
