Job description
You will be affiliated with the Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance, a team of 30 highly specialized colleagues with expertise in the laboratory-based surveillance of resistant bacteria. Your primary role will be to serve as project manager for two projects in which SSI is involved.

One of these is the EU-funded project EU-JAMRAI-2, which focuses on curbing the development of antimicrobial resistance across Europe. You will serve as project manager for a work package (ACCESS) focused on improving access to antibiotics for humans and animals. In addition to coordinating the Danish contribution, you will join the international steering committee and play an active role in the Danish team. Your duties will be varied, involving meetings with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication with the Danish Medicines Agency, and finalizing the Danish contributions regarding both human and veterinary medicine.

The second project is a Nordic pilot initiative aimed at determining whether harmonizing treatment guidelines across the Nordic region can improve the availability of medicines (penicillin V). Your role will involve project management—specifically coordinating with experts, preparing reports, and ensuring contractual obligations are met. You will also participate in the NORA initiative, which coordinates antibiotic supply projects across the Nordic region.

Additionally, the role entails ad hoc tasks and assisting colleagues with organizing workshops, conferences, and similar events. We also hope you can help identify suitable studies or research projects for potential future extensions.

Your background
You hold an academic degree—such as in medicine, veterinary medicine, public health, pharmacy, or a related field—with an interest in antibiotics and significant scientific experience involving health data, literature reviews, and securing research funding; experience with data processing is also desirable.

You must possess a high level of English proficiency (spoken and written, corresponding to the B2–C level). Danish language skills are an advantage but not a strict requirement.

Experience as a project manager on other European and/or Nordic projects is an asset, as is experience with grant applications, reporting, literature reviews, and writing articles.

Personally, you are proactive, organized, meticulous, and a team player, ready to lend a hand even outside your specific job description. You possess strong interpersonal skills, are full of ideas, take initiative, enjoy interdisciplinary work, and thrive in a scientific environment alongside experts with diverse professional backgrounds.

About the department
The Department of Bacteria, Parasites & Fungi, part of Statens Serum Institut (SSI), comprises approximately 130 employees who work closely with other specialist areas within infectious disease preparedness to provide diagnostic and epidemiological surveillance of human infections. The department also performs specialized diagnostic analyses, accompanied by advisory services regarding prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Terms of employment
The position runs to 31st December 2027.

You will be employed as an academic staff member in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne) or you will be employed in accordance with the collective agreement for doctors emplyed by the Danish State between the Danish Association of doctors (Yngre Læger) and the Ministry of Finance.
