Lead S&I Coordinator – Railway Safety in the Signalling Programme

Be part of something big! Leave your mark on the future climate-friendly and digital railway.

Do you want to navigate at the intersection of compliance, risk management, and technology? Would you like to contribute to making Denmark’s railway safer? Are you able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a cross-disciplinary working environment? Then you might be the new Lead S&I Coordinator we are looking for.

At Banedanmark, we are currently replacing the entire railway signalling system with a modern digital system. Denmark is the first country in Europe to roll out digital signalling systems across the entire national railway network, making it the largest IT project in Danish history.

You manage risks with confidence and collaborate on CSM and TSI across the organization

As a Lead S&I Coordinator, you will be part of a team of other S&I Coordinators and Safety Managers working with CSM-RA (Common Safety Methods for Risk Assessment) and TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability). The experience level in the team ranges from a few years in the industry to more than 20 years of railway safety experience.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare and review CSM and TSI documentation
  • Ensure delivery of S&I project deliverables
  • Assist individual projects and colleagues with the various approval processes related to the implementation of CSM and TSI
  • Ensure the necessary professional input into the risk management process
  • Lead hazard workshops where relevant risks for each project are identified
  • Align and coordinate with external assessors and NSA (Trafikstyrelsen)
  • Ensure compliance with Danish and European railway legislation and coordinate safety approvals and submissions to the relevant authorities.
Experience, technical understanding, and collaboration skills.

You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, including experience working with CSM-RA and TSI requirements in railway projects.

We expect you to have a record of working with both non-significant and significant changes, and a good understanding of the overall approval processes.

It is an advantage if you are familiar with ETCS, but if not, you have the ability and interest to learn about the system’s technical components and functionality.

Your collaboration skills will be important, as you will work with both internal and external partners. We offer an international working environment where the daily working language is English, so it is important that you speak and write English fluently and understand cultural differences.

In addition, it is important that you can work proactively and thrive in an environment where there are periods of high workload. During such periods, you must be able to prioritize the most important tasks and work in a structured and organized manner. In other periods, there will be time and capacity for deeper focus and professional development.

About the Department

Your workplace will be at our headquarters in central Copenhagen, close to public transport at Dybbølsbro Station.

You will become part of the Safety & Interoperability section within the Signalling Programme. The section is responsible for ensuring safe solutions and safety approvals for infrastructure and rolling stock when changes have been made to them.

The section brings together Safety Managers and S&I Coordinators, working across safety and interoperability for both rolling stock (Onboard) and railway infrastructure (Trackside). The Onboard team focuses on safety related to the modification of rolling stock, while the Trackside team, which you will join, focuses on infrastructure.

We place strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, collaboration on tasks, and professionalism. At the same time, there is room for humor, and we value a supportive and collegial working environment. We also prioritize maintaining a flexible and balanced workplace, where you will work with a high degree of autonomy and influence your own working life.

Salary and Employment

For candidates with an academic background employment will be based on the collective agreement applicable to academics employed by the Danish state, concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the relevant academic organizations.

You will be placed on the salary scale based on your academic seniority and experience, either as a Senior Officer (specialkonsulent) or Chief Consultant (chefkonsulent), in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the salary framework issued by the Danish Agency for Public Finance and Management.

Salary and terms of employment will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the salary framework for state employees.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, additional allowances may be negotiated. The remuneration package includes an employer-funded pension contribution of 18.07%.

For candidates covered by the HK collective agreement Employment will be based on the collective agreement applicable to office staff, laboratory technicians, and IT employees in the Danish state sector, including the General Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees' Organizations – The State Sector (OAO-S), and an organizational agreement concerning administrative officers, laboratory technicians and IT employees.

The position is classified within Salary Group 4, and salary and terms of employment will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the salary framework for state employees.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, additional allowances may be negotiated.

The remuneration package includes an employer-funded pension contribution of 16%.
