If your definition of seniority is more than simply having written code for many years, this could be interesting.
Cubris develops software that helps rail operators run smarter, safer and more sustainable railway services.
As part of Hitachi Rail, we are now strengthening our engineering organisation and developing Cubris into a high-performing technology competence centre around our GreenSpeed® platform.
We are therefore looking for a Senior Software Engineer who combines strong hands-on development skills with technical ownership.
This is not a role where you receive a Jira ticket, implement it and move on.
You will take ownership of delivery within a product area – from understanding requirements and making implementation decisions to coordinating development, identifying risks and getting robust software into production.
What you will do
You will:
Design, develop and ship production-grade software
Translate requirements into clear technical tasks and solutions
Take ownership of technical execution within a product area
Coordinate development across multiple engineers when required
Identify dependencies, blockers and technical risks before they affect delivery
Challenge unclear requirements constructively
Participate actively in design discussions and technical reviews
Design and document architecture at component level
Develop and maintain release pipelines
Work closely with Product and Quality Engineering
Support colleagues through technical sparring, reviews and coaching
Improve code quality, testability, maintainability and delivery practices
The role is deliberately broader than coding alone. Cubris expects senior engineers to take responsibility for outcomes, not just assigned tasks.
What you bring
We are looking for substantial software engineering experience and a strong track record of taking software from requirements into production.
Your technical foundation should include:
Strong C#/.NET experience
Docker/container experience
Azure DevOps Cloud
Solid software design fundamentals
Testing and code-quality practices
CI/CD and modern delivery workflows
Debugging and performance thinking
Database and data-access experience
Experience with .NET MAUI, Blazor, Android/device-based UI or embedded UI solutions is relevant for parts of the GreenSpeed® environment and would be an advantage.
But technical skills alone are not enough.
You should also be comfortable creating momentum when requirements are ambiguous, making sound engineering decisions and helping other developers become better. The formal role description specifically calls for experience leading technical initiatives without necessarily having formal people-management responsibility.
Why Cubris?
You join at a point where your experience can make a visible difference.
You will work close to Product, Quality Engineering and experienced technical colleagues while helping define the standards, tools and engineering practices of the organisation Cubris is becoming.
You get:
A technically meaningful product
Direct influence on engineering decisions
A focused Danish technology environment
International reach through Hitachi Rail
The opportunity to help build the engineering culture rather than simply become part of an established one
Location: Ballerup, Denmark
Company: Cubris – a Hitachi Rail company

Please note that work permit needs to be in place before applying and that there is no relocation package included. You must be able to commute to the office in Ballerup every work day.
