Are you the engineer people turn to when the code is difficult, the architecture matters and the team needs a technical direction?
Cubris is strengthening its engineering organisation around GreenSpeed® as part of our ambition to build a high-performing technology competence centre for intelligent railway solutions within Hitachi Rail.
We are looking for a Tech Lead who combines deep hands-on software engineering with architectural judgement.
This is deliberately not a traditional management role.
You will spend approximately 50% of your time as a Lead Developer and 50% as a Software Architect – building production software, solving difficult engineering problems and coaching developers while also representing your team in the Architecture Group and translating architectural direction into practical solutions.
Your role as Lead Developer
You will:
Write and ship production code
Take ownership of technically complex stories
Unblock other engineers when problems become difficult
Coach developers through pairing, design discussions and high-quality PR reviews
Raise standards for automated testing and CI/CD
Improve pipeline reliability and engineering effectiveness
Strengthen observability through logs, metrics and traces
Drive systematic reduction of technical debt
Establish useful patterns, runbooks and reference implementations
In other words: you are expected to remain technically credible because you are still doing the work.
Your role as Software Architect
At the same time, you will:
Represent your team in Cubris’ Architecture Group
Translate architectural decisions and ADRs into practical team standards
Define service boundaries, APIs, events and data contracts
Establish and verify non-functional requirements around security, reliability, performance and cost
Lead technical migrations and integrations
Manage architectural dependencies and compatibility
Maintain architectural documentation, roadmaps and decision records
You become the technical bridge between Product, Engineering and Architecture.
What you bring
We expect you to have:
7+ years of software engineering experience
Experience leading technical initiatives or engineering teams
Strong C#/.NET expertise
Experience designing distributed systems and/or microservices
Good SQL/NoSQL fundamentals
Experience with APIs, domain modelling and event-driven architectures
Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery
Experience with cloud technologies, containers and orchestration
An engineering mindset around reliability, observability, security and performance
The ability to mentor developers and communicate technical decisions clearly
The current environment includes C#/.NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, MS SQL Server, Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD and Visual Studio, with Azure, Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code increasingly relevant.
Why Cubris?
Because you will have unusually visible technical influence.
You will not simply inherit somebody else's engineering system. You will help define how Cubris builds software: the architecture, engineering practices, quality standards and technical guardrails that enable the organisation to scale.
And the software has a tangible purpose: helping make modern railway operations smarter, more predictable and more energy-efficient.
Location: Ballerup, Denmark
Department: Software Production
